This report presents the results of a nationwide study carried out by the UNESCO Chair for the Consejo Superior de los Colegios de Arquitectos de España (CSCAE). Through a survey addressed to the community of professionals of architecture and urban planning in Spain, which included a series of questions aimed at extracting information relevant to the gender perspective and the principle of equality between women and men, a diagnosis of the profession has been obtained. In addition to focusing on the variable of sex, the study includes other variables of an intersectional nature, such as age, origin or level of study, among others.
The study reveals the differences between male and female architects in a number of aspects such as income levels, leadership, the way the profession is practised, barriers to professional development, types of activities or expectations.
This study was part of the diagnosis on the basis of which the UNESCO Chair designed the CSCAE Equality Plan.
