This publication, developed for the 2019 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, presents an exploration of Madrid through the lens of the Spanish Urban Agenda (AUE), focusing on new forms of proximity in the post-industrial productive city. It brings together research, projects, and reflections on how contemporary cities can respond to major challenges such as social cohesion, sustainability, and economic transformation by rethinking urban form and governance.

Among these contributions, the interview with Inés Sánchez de Madariaga—Director of the UNESCO Chair on Gender in STEM—stands out for its critical insight into equity and inclusion in urban planning.
In her interview, Sánchez de Madariaga introduces the influential concept of “mobility of care,” highlighting how everyday mobility patterns linked to caregiving responsibilities remain largely overlooked in conventional transport planning.
