The “White Paper on the Situation of Women in Spanish Science” was published in 2011 by the Women and Science Unit of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN). The document was prepared with the assistance of the Foundation for Applied Economics Studies (FEDEA). This book was a pioneering document, providing valuable insights into the reality of women in Spanish science. The book demonstrated that there was still a considerable amount of work to be done to address gender inequality in science, particularly at the highest levels of the academic world. The book became a key document that helped to raise awareness and boost the process to correct the gender imbalance caused by the small number of women in the scientific world, especially at the highest levels.
