This is the first Gender Equality Plan of the CSCAE, the institution that represents the professional associations of architects throughout Spain. The aim of this plan is to provide a roadmap for the CSCAE to develop initiatives that contribute to equal opportunities between men and women within the profession, as well as to facilitate the incorporation of the gender perspective in the professional practice of architecture and urbanism.
Based on the national study previously carried out by the UNESCO Chair (link to the study), the plan includes a broad diagnosis, followed by proposals for action divided into 5 areas of interest:
Area 1: Organisational culture
Area 2: Leadership, representation and human resources management
Area 3: Integrating the gender perspective into activities
Area 4: Policies for equality in the profession
Area 5: Development of the 1st CSCAE Gender Equality Plan
The CSCAE Gender Equality Plan also aims to promote equal opportunities in the regional associations (“colegios territoriales”), which are much closer to the day-to-day world of the profession. Thus, in addition to a chapter with data provided by the regional institutions, all the areas of action proposed in the Plan include proposals for action aimed at the professional associations in each region.
