Is the coordinator of the UNESCO Chair. She holds a Master in Architecture and a Master in Equal Opportunities. Inés is a lecturer of Urban Planning at Universitat Politècnica de València. Her research focuses on gender-responsive spatial planning and design, and on structural change and gender policies in STEAM institutions. Inés has participated in different European projects on gender equality and RRI in S&T institutions. She has been visitor researcher and guest lecturer at different Spanish, European and American universities. Consultant for the Spanish Government and several regional Administrations on gender in housing and spatial planning policies and legislation. She provides technical advice to ADIF (Administrator of Railway Infrastructures in Spain) and other engineering companies on how introducing gender criteria in railway infrastructures and stations planning and design. Inés was part of the multidisciplinary technical office in charge of developing the masterplan for Madrid Nuevo Norte redevelopment project and she collaborates in several actions to keep the gender-sensitive approach of the project during its development phase. Author and co-author of different toolkits, articles and book chapters on gender in spatial planning. Inés is the Western Europe Area Editor of the Bloomsbury Global Encyclopaedia of Women in Architecture, to be published in late 2024. She has been in charge of designing and implementing a number of training courses on gender in STEAM fields targeting professionals, researchers and manager from both public and private institutions.  Her participatory action research with women on safety in public space was selected for the Spanish Pavilion in the 2018 Venice Biennale of Architecture. She is a selected member of the ARL International Working Group “Gender- and Climate-just Cities and Urban Region”, and in 2022 she was appointed for the Local Design Council of the City of Valencia. 

Visiting Professor at the UNESCO Chair during the spring semesters, 2022 and 2023, and for the whole year 2024. Elia is an Architect from the University of Navarra, 1992, and a PhD in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, 1999. She is Professor of Architectural Composition at the University of Alicante (UA), with her research work developed also within the Institute for Research in Gender Studies of the UA. Her research is characterized by a qualitative and contextualized approach to the study topics, blending that which is close with what is needed, using social, cooperative and participatory approaches, while addressing gender and sustainability issues. She has published 14 books as an author, 3 as a coordinator and is the editor of 14. She has written more than 60 papers and almost 60 book chapters. Her research work has been distinguished by the Presidency of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla La Mancha (2011) and in the IV Edition of the Prizes on Gender in Urban Planning, Mobility, Landscape, Housing and Architecture awarded the Generalitat Valenciana (2020) for its commitment to equality between women and men. She is the principal investigator of the project “Situated Looks: Women’s Architecture in Spain from Peripheral Perspectives, 1978-2008” (2021-2023) and a member of the research team of the project “Women in Spanish (post)modern architectural culture” (2019-2021). She has been Coordinator of the Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urban Planning (2006-2012) and Director of the UA Campus Development Secretariat (2013-2020). 

Architect, is a professor of Urban Planning at Federico II University of Naples. She leads a course oon urban issues with a gender lens called “Gender, Right to the city, Urban safety: social innovation practices for urban Projects”. She is Founder and Scientific Director of URBANIMA, an interdisciplinary studies centre dedicated to women, cities, sustainable development and gender issues within the Interdepartmental Research Centre “Raffaele d’Ambrosio” (L.U.P.T.). She is member AGGI (Advisory Gender Group on Gender Issues)of UN-Habitat and co-chair of the WPCG- Women’s Group in the General Assembly of Partners (GAP). She played an active role during the Habitat III process leading to the New Urban Agenda. She is Co-coordinator of UNI Habitat Gender Hub and Honorary President of the International As-sociation AFEM (Association Femmes Europe Méridionale), which groups associations and networks of associations from countries in the South of the European Union. She has coordinated many projects for regional and local governments in urban and rural areas with a focus on gender and sustainable development. She is member of the Scientific Advisory Committees of many European and International projects. She has also been manager of several academic research projects of relevant national and international interest. Recently she has created WAUW “Women, Architecture, Urbanism in the World: Theories and Practices for New Visions of the City”, a network and journal attached to TRIA, an international academic journal focused on territorial and urban planning, published by the University of Naples Federico II, focusing on gender and planning. 

Urban Planner and Project Manager with more than 10 years of experience in national and international medium and large scale projects. Degree in Territorial Planning from the Università di Architettura di Venezia (Italy) and PhD in Urban Planning from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, with a thesis on mobility in the metropolitan area of Madrid. Specialised in urban planning with a gender perspective. Researcher and coordinator of national and international projects, and consultant for the design of strategies to incorporate the gender perspective in the design and management of infrastructure and urban development works. 

Sociologist. Ph.D. in Sociology (UNED). Lecturer in the Theory, Methodology and Social Change Department of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology, UNED. She has developed an integrated research record around female discrimination in higher education and employment, Sociology of Education and Sociology of Youth. Her doctoral dissertation on these themes was awarded the Extraordinary Doctoral Prize. Along these research topics she completed a research stay in the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Sciences and Humanities (CEICH), of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She has taken part as International External Project Evaluator and has participated in numerous national and internacional Research Projectss, in competitive tenders such as the EU Socrates/Comenius Programme. She has published the results of her research in journal papers and monographs, and also in books and book chapters on relevant themes. She has participated in the Organizing Committees and the Scientific Committees of several International Congresses, and has pursued higher education management posts.
